sap application managed services

Welcome Matthias Steiner to Syntax

We’re pleased to share that Matthias Steiner has joined Syntax, strengthening our leadership team in the SAP Business Innovation unit.

Syntax has a deep investment in SAP innovation by developing Industry products on SAP BTP – which requires strength in product development and management but also a deep knowledge of the SAP platform capabilities. Matthias has a very strong SAP background and has worked from the ground up in the SAP Business Technology Platform team – making him a strong fit at Syntax.

Within his 17 years at SAP, Matthias spent a good portion of them in solution development and product management, driving adoption for SAP BTP at large. His most recent experience at a software partner of SAP was spent with a focus on rapid app development – a skill Syntax wants more of going forward to deliver innovate products to its customers.

The idea of being in the “sweet spot” of a company larger than a startup with the corresponding financial backing to drive innovation, but smaller and more agile than larger consultancies that become wedded to their own processes and how they do things, was a big part of what attracted Matthias to the role. He’s looking forward to a company that is still agile enough to build lasting pragmatic relationships while driving innovation – being able to build on previous work without having to start from scratch with every innovation.

Another focus for Matthias and his team is developing smart, next-gen products that integrate with or complement SAP offerings – moving beyond managed services and consulting to growing the Syntax product portfolio, managing the company’s strategic investments in Generative AI and Infusing it into Syntax products.

Generative AI is a flashy technology that generates enthusiasm across all businesses, but the industry still struggles to provide or define broader use cases that make sense within specific industries. Thanks to Syntax’s industry-specific expertise in industries like digital manufacturing, mining, consumer goods, and construction, the company is well positioned to drive use cases – and now products – that go beyond theoretical to pragmatic solutions that drive efficiencies and return on investment.

This will give Syntax an unmatched three-pronged approach to supporting our customers: managed services, professional services, and an IP technology portfolio tailored for use cases that meet the needs of specific industries.

Combining the agility of a midmarket company with the resources niche players often lack, and adding industry-specific innovations and practical implementations of Generative AI will keep Syntax in the lead for customers in its focus industries – and will keep Matthias’ growing team busy for years to come. (The team is still growing so interested developers and enthusiastic BTP practitioners may wish to reach out to him!)

We at Syntax are excited about the possibilities, and we can’t wait to see what Matthias and his team of pragmatic innovators do. To learn more about what Matthias and his team are doing, contact us.
