Lower TCO. Greater agility and scalability. Better availability and security. You know the arguments for moving enterprise workloads to the cloud. Yet real-world, legitimate issues — time, upfront costs, potential business disruption — present roadblocks that often keep businesses from making the move.
Why OCI?
Oracle addresses those legitimate issues with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). OCI enables quick deployments, not just for the core Oracle ERP platforms, but for the entire ERP application ecosystem, while maintaining the key customizations and integrations that are critical to your systems. While OCI runs both cloud native and traditional IT workloads, ERP customers get further benefits because they can take advantage of unique subscription technology licensing scalability only available in OCI. This provides greater flexibility and performance for customers with seasonal or business cycle spikes in workloads, or for customers who always find themselves short of non-Production environments for projects. With the Oracle Support Rewards program, the more you use OCI the more you save – at least $.25 of every dollar of consumption is returned to customers as a credit against their Oracle Support renewal for technology products. Using an Oracle-certified Cloud Solution Provider like Syntax, your migration to OCI can be achieved in a risk-free and seamless way with minimal downtime.
OCI can improve application performance, availability, scalability, security, and compliance and customers can reinvest the savings they get from a migration into innovation. Oracle also stands out from their competitors in tangible ways as revealed through the cloud economics of OCI. The effectiveness, simplicity, and ROI of OCI makes the choice easier to migrate Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) and JD Edwards (JDE).
Modernizing E-Business Suite on OCI
Moving EBS to OCI delivers greater cost savings and performance improvements when compared to on-prem or other cloud environments. Oracle reports that customers that have made the move to OCI realize cost savings of up to 50% over on-prem solutions or other cloud platforms. As part of any migration, Syntax will work with you to understand your implementation, craft a topology that will deliver measurable improvements in performance, availability, scalability, and cost and build a solution that could even improve the functionality you are using in EBS as part of the migration. Customers are taking advantage of free new functionality like Enterprise Command Centers to deliver real value to their businesses as part of a migration.
Why are businesses feeling more urgency to make these moves? There are a few key reasons why now is the time to consider moving EBS to OCI. First, EBS 12.1.3 entered sustaining support in December 2021. While customers have a bridge support solution through the end of 2023 with Oracle’s Market-Driven Support offering, you should start planning for a migration now. Second, Premier Support on Oracle Database 12.1.0.2 ends at the end of July 2022, so if you are considering an upgrade now is a great time to explore options in the cloud. In fact, EBS Release 12.2.11 includes architecture changes that portend future compatibility with Oracle’s Autonomous Database, Oracle’s self-healing, next-generation database platform. Third, most customers find that there are gaps in their application or technology licensing, including shelfware or quantity shortfalls, that can be alleviated by a move to cloud. Customers are anxious to move away from the limitations of perpetual licensing requirements and gain more flexibility. Finally, many of the technology solutions that help support ERP platforms – integration technology, BI/analytics technology, IAM technology – are now available in the cloud with better capabilities and more flexibility.
Moving JDE to Oracle Cloud
As with EBS, moving JDE to OCI is a move that can happen quickly and easily within a matter of a few months, and with just a few hours of Production downtime, all while maintaining the integrity of existing customized applications. JDE EnterpriseOne deployments on OCI don’t require significant configuration, integration, or business process changes. Customers have access to proactive cost and use monitoring, and with Oracle’s transparent pricing there’s little chance of overspending on cloud. Scaling up or down of CPU, memory, and storage can be done near instantaneously and new JDE environments can be provisioned very quickly.
If you are looking at a Tools upgrade or other technology improvements, Syntax can create a solution that modernizes your environment and gives you a high-performing, secure solution on which to run your business.
